 Testimonials

James delivered a highly engaging after-school CPD session at Cononley Primary School on adaptive maths teaching to promote deeper thinking for all pupils, particularly those who grasp concepts quickly and need greater challenge. From the start, James captured the attention of staff across KS1 and KS2 with just the right balance of pace, clarity, and energy for the end of a busy school day.
What stood out was the immediate relevance and practicality of his ideas. Teachers left with strategies they could apply straight away to stretch thinking, spark curiosity, and deepen learning — without adding to their workload. Approaches such as “Think Alouds”, “Slow Reveal” and “Goal-Free Problems” were explained with clarity, modelled effectively, and rooted in classroom realities.
James explained each strategy clearly and made sure everyone understood how they could be used in the classroom. He was happy to answer questions and offered some really useful suggestions for resources and learning mats to support the ideas. Staff left the session feeling motivated and confident, with lots of practical takeaways they could try out straight away. It was a really valuable session and we would definitely welcome James back for future training.
